Neighbourhood Spotlight: Sapperton
Neighbourhood Spotlight: Sapperton
If you’ve spent any time in New West, you’ve probably heard of Sapperton. It’s one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, but it’s also one of the buzziest these days. Once home to the Royal Engineers (nicknamed the “Sappers”), the area has grown into a community that blends history with a fun, modern vibe.
Sapperton feels super connected. Tree-lined streets, family-friendly parks, and a community festival (Sapperton Day!) that brings everyone together each summer make it easy to see why people love living here. Add in trails along the Brunette River and the green spaces at Hume Park, and you’ve got plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors too.
This neighbourhood is very much “old meets new” — a little bit of New West history mixed with the energy of new businesses and neighbours moving in. Whether you’re exploring on foot or checking out the local events, Sapperton always feels welcoming.
